A musical programme of Viennese inspiration – Mozart and Schubert
A reassertion of Mozart’s genius and values in the spirit of the Concerto in C minor for piano, K 491, and of one of the most vigorous opera overtures – that of The marriage of Figaro K.492, justifies the first part of the symphonic programme for the concert of 15th September.
A synchronisation of creative efforts, the same fruitful year – 1786, a European capital of music – Vienna, and the same stage from Burgtheater, which Mozart has strived to dominate as a piano virtuoso and an opera composer, are the common points of the amazing pieces proposed by conductor Pedro Negrescu and the soloist guest of the evening – pianist Tatiana Pocinoc.
Franz Schubert and his 5th Symphony, in B flat major, covers the symphonic chapter of the programme, complementing the image of the same musical Vienna, loaded with the “perfume” of the first decades of the romantic century. Rendered the most successful of the composer’s early symphonic works, written in 1816, at the age of 19, the Symphony in B flat major uncovers a perfect compatibility with the Mozart’s ideals, by expressing, through its melodic beauty and the perfection of its frames, the same simplicity, rigour and purity.
