The new opera gala, which marks the start of the September concerts at the Philharmonic, revives the Reconciliation Park on the first Sunday evening of autumn. The long-awaited outdoor event is tailored this year on a predominant 19th century Italian repertoire, giving a generous space to the scores of Gioachino Rossini (The Barber of Seville), Giuseppe Verdi (Nabucco, Rigoletto, Traviata, The Force of Destiny), Ruggero Leoncavallo (Clowns) and Giacomo Puccini (Madame Butterfly), to which he inspiringly adds the temperamental music of their pre-classical predecessor, Alessandro Scarlatti, Mozartian operas (The Rape of the Serai and The Marriage of Figaro), as well as French repertoire titles – Faust (Charles Gounod ), The Tales of Hoffmann (Jacques Offenbach) or Carmen (Georges Bizet).

And for those who like operetta, the selection reserves the reunion with numbers from The Bat, The Gypsy Voivode (Johann Strauss), Silvia and Countess Maritza (Emmerich Kálmán), among the proposals of this year’s guests are also found fragments of Romanian operas, arias from Let me sing (Gherase Dendrino) and The Danube Waves (George Grigoriu).

We are waiting for you, therefore, on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 19.00, at a new production of the concert ensembles, the symphony orchestra and the academic choir (conductor Robert Daniel Rădoiaș), a gala prepared by the conductor Hermann Szabolcs and enlivened by a record number of performers: sopranos Silvia Sorina Munteanu, Mia Iuga, Ferenczy Orsolya, Amalia Preda, Andreea Novac, Diana Birta, Denisa Bădăi, Maria Boldan, tenors Traian Mișcu, Dragoș Moldovan, as well as baritones Kendi Ludovik and Victor Aciocîrlănoaei.
