„Classic meets Rock”
Conductor Giuseppe Carannante (Italia)
Soloists
Emanuela Loffredo Italia
Florin Gherghel
Arrangements by Raffaele Minale
The penultimate event of the 2015-2016 musical season, CLASSIC MEETS ROCK is an open-air performance, in a special location – Arad Fortress. On Saturday, June 25th, the Philharmonic symphonic orchestra, conducted by Giuseppe Carannante, the vocal soloist Emanuela Loffredo and violin artist Florin Gherghel will be the stars of a musical mix conceived for and dedicated to generations of fans of today’s and yesterday’s rock music – only this time, rock is recomposed in classical rhythms and presented in arrangements signed by Raffaele Minale.
CLASSIC MEETS ROCK is more than a connection between two sonorous worlds – it is also a chapter of recent musical history, while the frenzy of rock reunited with the symphonic force of classical music shatters the walls between two seemingly different genres.
Hits such as Nothing Else Matters, November Rain, Smoke on the Water, Smells Like Teen Spirit, The Jack, are classical titles, ever present in the collections of those who love Metallica, Nirvana, Guns N’Roses, Deep Purple or AC/DC. Their purely symphonic version or with a solo violin is dedicated to them. While those who prefer voice and textual representations are invited to listen, next to Emanuela Loffredon, to more collectible titles – Heaven (Bryan Adams), In the Arms of an Angel (Sarah McLahlan), Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen), Proud Mary (John Fogerty) or Music (John Miles).
Beethoven – The 5th or Palladio by Karl Jenkins are also promoted in crossover versions, Florin Gherghel’s musical talent being once again exposed through his successful classical performances.
Let There Be Rock! – these are the words of a famous 1977 song, and also our urge for the most dynamic evening of our June programme.
