A profound and extremely balanced selection encourages one to take part to the audition evening, when the overture to one of the most alert musical comedies ever written by Mozart, Cosi fan tutte opens the concert scheduled on Thursday, on the lead of conductor Cristian Neagu.
Bearing the appearance of a perpetuum mobile, the overture to Cosi fan tutte brilliantly addresses the basic form of Viennese classicism – the sonnet, by prefacing, once with the debut of Mozart chamber piece, the pianistic theme of the musical programme.
A defining Opus for the piano works of late XIXth and early XXth century, the Concert no. 2 by Sergei Rahmaninoff impresses through its unusual melodic opulence, as well as through its extraordinary lyrical valences. They point out both the composer’s period of maturity and the difficult milestones for the pianists from the XXth generation and the ones following them. The special guest of the symphonic evening is young pianist Sânziana Mircea, one of today’s most active soloistic presences on national and international stages.
The last symphony signed by Joseph Haydn, numbered 104, covers the second part of the symphonic programme conducted by Cristian Neagu. A successful synthesis of elements and extreme feelings, which implies both orchestral virtuosity, depth and coherence. The Symphony in D major no. 104 confirms the impressions from the master’s notebooks: “A new symphony in D, the 12th, and the last of the londoners… The public was pleased and so was I.”. The piece was first auditioned in 1795, in London, during one of the famous Opera Concerts.
