Waltzes and polkas from the Strauss family’s repertory
Celebrating the New Year through a special selection of waltzes
Elegance, refinement, a touch of aristocracy and a whole lot of joy… These are the ingredients of the special evening we offer, through our first concert of 2016 – our traditional New Year’s Concert being scheduled on January 7th, at 7 PM, in the great hall of the State Theatre of Arad.

The opening of the concert year will be celebrated on the first Thursday of January, the very first symphonic programme of 2016 being focused, as usual, on music by Strauss. An evening of sonorous “fireworks”, signed by Johann Strauss – the son, Josef Strauss and Johann Strauss – the elder, fulfils the list of favorites presented during our New Year’s Concert.
The musical signal for the 2016 concert circuit is marked by a sense of renewal and by noble performances, as the expectations of our public are sure to be met by spectacular waltzes such as Wiener Blut, Morgenblätter, Wein, Weib und Gesang and An der schönen blauen Donau signed by Johann Strauss – the son, by wonderful polkas such as Auf der Jagd, Tik – Tak (Johann Strauss – the son), Ohne Sorgen, Plappermäulchen, Feuerfest and Sport Polka (Josef Strauss) and, last but not least, by the dashing Spanischer Marsch (Johann Strauss – the son) or Radetzky Marsch (Johann Strauss – the elder), ópuses which have enlivened the ballrooms of Vienna for decades in a row.
The spirit and brilliance of our traditional galla thus casts a truly special light onto the New Year’s commencement, bringing, under conductor Cristian Neagu’s lead, the beauty, energy, humor and hope encrypted in the most select danses of XIXth century Vienna.
A wonderful wish of “Happy New Year”, expressed through the swirl of waltzes, through the pulsation of marches and through the grace of polkas.
